- Long ago there were no houses with slated roofs in this district.
When a man built a new house, and when he had the rafters up he would have to cut bog scraws, and shredd them over the rafters. After that he would get straw and sometimes he would fasten it on the scollops, and other times he would sew it on.
The floors were made of clay, and in the wet weather, they were very soft and sticky.
Long ago half-doors were very common in this district.- Bailitheoir
