- Lemonaghan is a townland, situated in the Parish of Ballinahown, Barony of Garrycastle, County Offaly. There are thirty one families in Lemonaghan. There are one hundred and six people in this townland. Corcorans and Guinans are most common. Most of the houses are thatched.This townland got its name from a saint named St. Manchan who lived with his mother in Lemonaghan long ago.There is an old man named William Egan who talks a few words in Irish. He is also able to tell a lot of old stories in English. He is also over seventy years of age. Lemonaghan is a patch of good upland surround by bog. There is a small wood called Dereen a meel situated on the Alexander bogy.I got this informaiton from my father.
