- Long ago people did not wear boots until they were twenty years. A man named Philip Dolan never wore boots winter or summer. He lived in Noggas, Ferbane, Co. Offaly. There were two shoemakers in my district and the names of them were Pat Flannery and William Corams. This trade was handed down from father to son. These shoemakers used to make clogs and used to sell them to the people. Some people wear clogs to the present day. There clogs were made from leather and timber and were shod with iron.
