- The Potato CropThe potato crop is usually sown form the middle of March to the last day of April. The farmers sow the most of the potatoes. The least they sow is two acres, and they sow anything from that up to ten acres. The fist thing they do is to plough the land. Then they harrow and cultivate it, and if it happens that it is lumpy they roll it with a roller. Then they plough it again, and then they harrow it. Then they open the drills and put in about one hundred loads of farm yard manure to the acre, sand bag manure if necessary. The people sow different varieties of potatoes, namely, the Golden Wonders, Sharps Express, Kerr Pinks, Irish Queens, Old Champions, Kerry Champions, .Arran Banners, Spies Abundance,(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
