- Most marriages take place during Shrove. June and September are counted lucky months for marriages. There is a feast held at the bride's house on the wedding day. When the married pair are going home after being married their friends tie an old boot on to the motor car for luck. Rice is thrown over the bride and bridegroom to bring them luck. After the wedding breakfast the wedded couple go for their honeymoon. When they come home they are given a reception by their friends. The bride is given a fortune by her father.
Monday for health
Tuesday for wealth
Wednesday the best day of all
Thursday for losses
Friday for crosses
And Saturday no day at all.
The bride does not count it lucky to go to her parents house for a month after her marriage.- Bailitheoir
