- People believed in olden times that Wednesday was the luckiest day of the week for doing any business. In olden times too people would not begin to plough on Thursday. If they did not begin on Wednesday they would not begin then until the next Wednesday. There are lucky days and unlucky days in the week. Crops that were sown on Mondays and Wednesday were believed to be prosperous. In the early days of April which are very cold the people would say "they are skinning the old cow" and when the cold days are gone they say the old cow is skinned
