- A long time ago there was an old tree lying on a piece of a wide ditch in Coolnamara Borris. This old tree was growing for several years and every one used to put up notices on it so that it was covered all over with nails.
The place where it grew was called "The round O" It is called that still. No one every cut a sprig off it. One very stormy night came and the heavy winds knocked it.
A man by the name of Pat Doyle brought it in and put and put a piece of it in the fire After a while it began to turn white He brought it out again and it turned in-to its usual colour. The reason of this is that there was a man buried in it by the name of Dudley. He was supposed to be killed and buried by two men in a barrel.
