    built. The old woman did not like this at all and so she took a tremendous rock and threw it at the steeple. She did not aim well and the stone, instead of hitting the church, fell in Balanakill where it can be seen to this day.
    As the old woman threw the stone she slid down, right down the mountain, and this is said to have made the marks which can be seen on the side of the hill.
    No-body knows where the old woman went or what happened to her after this but she probably climbed the mountain again and for all I know she may still be sitting up there among the heather looking at Baganelstown steeple.
    This is only one of the legends about these marks and another is to be found at the beginning of the book.
