The house wife would have to get up very early, sometimes at five o'clock and cook the breakfast.The food they would use for their breakfast would be oatenmeal porridge. Some people used butter milk with their porridge and others new milk.
When the breakfast would be over they would go out and work again until twelve o'clock. Then they would have their dinner which consisted of potatoes with milk and butter or eggs, or sometimes herrings.
After the day's work was done they would have their supper with potatoes and milk or porridge and milk. Bread was very scarce in those times and oaten or rye bread was sometimes made, and baked on a griddle over a fire of oaten straw. Meat was seldom used, fish was more plentiful.
