- Hallow e'en is the eve of the first of November. Many old customs are carried out on this night. One of these customs is apple diving. It is played by diving for apples or money, which is placed in a tub of water, and trying to catch them in your mouth. They also had saucers of clay, water and a ring to try their fortune. The person who would be trying his fortune would be blindfolded. If he touched the clay it meant he would die before the year was out. Touching the water signifies crossing water and touching the ring meant a marriage.
