  1. Not so very long ago a hell-hound used to pass through Hanlon's field in Talbotstown. Every night between eleven and twelve o'clock he used to pass out at the back of Hanlon's hayshed and down through Bill Kelly's field.
    One night, Jim Lynch and Pat Moran were coming home from Kiltegan. Before they parted each other, they stopped to talk. They heard something coming up the road and passing by but could see nothing, and when it went a little further up the road it crossed the ditch and went roaring down the field like a Greyhound.
