There is another story told which is not so pleasant. It is the murder of John Hume of Humewood Castle, Kiltegan, by John Moore, a follower of Dwyer, out of revenge because Moore's licence had been suspended since his house became a haunt of rebels. Moore called on Hume and shot him in cold blood when he was defenceless.
After this event Moore, Dwyer, and some others were in a certain tavern, and Moore's group of friends were drunk.
A young lad, named Jackson, rode by and was captured. A military despatch was found on him. They immediately decided to shoot him. Dwyer did his best to stop Moor of committing another murder on the young lad, but nothing would stop the drunken(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
