  1. People believed in olden times that it was not lucky to touch a rath.
    There is one in our district which a man mowed. When he had the hay made he was on the top of a cock heading it, and fell off of it. He became dumb and did not speak for seven years.
    At the end of the seven years the small stock which he had left on his farm multiplied, and he also spoke on the same day.
    The late Mr John Jackson of Crossnacole, used to tell this story and he was acquainted with the man mentioned in it.
