The chapel is built, but in debt it's in thousands,
How money'll be raised, no man can tell,
This kind priest won't lás his poor flock in Doobally,
But the chapel stands bare without altar or bell.
But he sailed for New York with the leave of his Bishop
Where the brave boys of Cavan, came forth him to [?].
They knew he was there on a kind, holy mission,
And thousands of dollars, they laid at his feet.
V
The days he was leaving from New York and Boston.
The crys of the Irish, he neer will forget.
But now he is back with his flock in Doobally,
and the chapel stands clear on the hill out of debt
The altar and seats are paid for and ready
And now a grand bellfry does stand over all,
To ring out on praise to his kind God, and Master
And the flocks of Doobally, devotion its call.

This pardon, I ask, if these lines would offend him,
But if to the writer, permission he'll give,
This song shall be sung, by the youths of Doobally
When the priest will be gone, and cold in his grave.
