would gather in and give the people of the house a few shillings. This was called “comora.” On that day also there would come a woman who would cry and weep for the dead person. Sometimes it was a crowd of women who would catch in a ring on the floor and start to swing and at the same time they would moan weep. This was called “crooners.”
The coffin that would be on the dead body would be painted yellow and cost about nine or ten shillings. When the corpse would be a bringing to the chapel a few local men would carry it. And every townland they would be leaving they would leave down the corpse. This was supposed that the corpse would be bidding farewell to the townland.
