- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)emigration for the starving people of Ireland, to other countries. They had to work very hard for their living.
There was an old lady living in Cavan, and she was very generous. Her name was Mrs Kennedy, and she lived in Upper Main St. She was the owner of a tobacco and snuff factory. She was a very rich woman, and she employed a number of poor starving boys. She boiled pots of soup and cabbage three times a week, and she gave a certain amount of soup, cabbage, and bread to the poor people.
When she died she had a very large funeral. It was four or five miles long and it is said that it was the largest funeral that ever left Cavan Cathedral. She was buried in Kill. Her ancestors were very generous.- Bailitheoir
