- When people are throwing out water at night, after washing their feet they said; "Fág an bealach do'm uisge salach" which means leave the way of the dirty water.
Long ago in this district there lived a clogmaker. His name was Francis Smith. He is dead about forty years, and the walls of the house, where he lived are still to be seen.
The soles were made of sycamore wood, which he cut out of blocks. They were dressed with a drawn knife which is of a round shape, with two handles. Then they were rabbited with a small saw with teeth the end, set in wood so as to cut them all the same depth.
The uppers were made of fairly light leather which was nailed to the sole. Then there is a piece of iron nailed on to the sole and heel.- Bailitheoir
