Ar an leathanach seo
- Potatoes are grown on my farm at home, and they are grown on every farm in my townland. We sow two roods under potatoes each year, my uncle generally prepares the ground for the sowing of the potatoes. He manures the ground before being turned up. The potatoes are sown in ridges, and sometimes in drills. A plough is used for making the drills, and a spade or a shovel is used for making the ridges.
Wooden ploughs were used in older days, but they are not used recently, and I think there are none of them left, all the spades used are bought in the shops.
When putting in the potatoes, first, the ground has to be ploughed, then manured, then the potatoes which have been cut two weeks previously are put down and the ridge is set.
