- People long ago when they were getting married went to the church in side-cars, and when coming back they would play music and go for a long drive. Twenty side cars often would be seen at a wedding, then they would celebrate that evening in dancing and singing under a white-thorn bush, until an early hour in the morning. They did that because they thought it brought them luck. Their lucky days were Monday and Wednesday.
