Many superstitious beliefs were connected with this night. A girl who placed a piece of yarrow under the bolster was supposed to see in a dream the man to whom she would be marred, this was called "sleeping on the yarrow". When pulling the yarrow the girl was supposed to say the following words:-
Good Morrow, good Yarrow,
Good Morrow to thee
Before this time to-morrow
You'll tell me who my true love will be
The colour of his hair
The clothes he does wear
The day month & year he'll be married to me.
There is a story told about Bob Turner's wife. Bob turner, who is now thirty five years dead, lived in a small house in Lavey in close proximity to the present Lavey Protestant Church.
