- The morning after the Battle of Ballinamuck was a fine harvest morning. McLoughlin the great grandfather of the present James Farrelly of Enaughan had a field of oats ready to stack. He rose early and went out to the field to gather in the oats. When he lifted one of the stooks of oats he was greatly surprised to see a soldier lying asleep underneath. The soldier immediately awakened and arose in haste. With him were three comrades under other stooks. McLoughlin could not understand what they were saying but from their uniforms he knew that they were French soldiers who had fought the previous day.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
