- Whit Sunday and Whit Monday are counted very unlucky days, though they are the luckiest days of the year - Long ago the old people wouldn't like to draw blood during Whit Week, as they counted it unlucky and would say that a horse or cow or some animal would die on them. Some people say that if a person cut his finger during those days it would never heal.If a calf or a foal or any animal is born in Whit week it is called a "Cingcíseach" and is looked upon as being very wicked. Long ago people would avoid having a cow calving or a mare foaling at this time, but some of the people do not care now as they count those days the luckiest days of the whole year.
