   St. Patrick's day falls on the seventeenth of March. It is kept in memory of the bringing of the true faith to Ireland by St. Patric. The people wear shamrocks and badges on that day. They also send shamrocks to their friends in other countries. It is supposed to be lucky to get a four-leaved shamrock.
   On Shrove Tuesday or "Pancake Night" there used to be pancakes made. The day (day) before Shrove Tuesday is called Puss Monday. Long ago the people would not clip their nails during Lent in honour of the passion. When Good Friday would come they would clip them together with their hair. They would clip their hair as they thought it would make them (avoo) avoid headaches. It was also believed that those who go barefooted on Good Friday would never get a wounded foot the whole year round. Long ago on the same day the people would not comb their hair till after the Passion in (houn) honour of Our Lord. Eggs are eaten on Easter Sunday on honour of the Ressurrection.
   Whit Sunday is a very unlucky day. If a calf was calved on that day he is supposed to be wicked and is left under a sod for a few minutes to cure him from being so.
   It is said that if you washed your face and hands in the dew on May morning you would not get sun-burned during that year after. It is
