- (continued from previous page)There was a forge along the road and she went into it and she asked for a pin, and the blacksmith said he had none but he would make one for her. He got a bit of iron and put it in the fire and reddened it and hammered it out and gave it to her and she gave him her blessing.
- The water the blacksmiths cool the red irons in, it is an old saying that there is a cure of chilblains in it. If you would wash your feet in it it would make your feet as hard as iron.
The farmer use to give a load of turf at Christmas to the blacksmith to "reden" the iron for him. It is said(continues on next page)- Collector
