  1. One day two men who lived in Corryrourke near Cross were going to a shoemaker to get their shoes mended.
They were passing through a stubble field and a hare rose and ran off.
One of the men hit the hare on the leg and broke its leg.
The hare got into Mullagh Lake.
When they were coming home, a man met them and asked them did they raise a hare and they said that it was so.
"Did any of you hit her with a stone?" They replied that one man did.
"Then two of you must come to her under the lake" said the strange man.
They were lifted off their feet and then sank into the water.
In a house there they saw a lovely lady in a bed. She said "you hit me and you must stay here".
They rushed out but one tool a mouthful of some grand food was on a table. He never was seen again but his friend came home and told this strange story.
