    believed to be portions of the altar.
    A lake (known as the healing lake) covering several acres formerly existed. It became entirely dried up about fifty years ago. The water of this now extinct lake was of a yellowish hue and was used for healing bad sores and scurbotic ulcers. Large numbers of people suffering from diseases used to resort to this lake. A quantity of the mud was subsequently carried away to be kept for healing purposes.
    Loughan Leagh was much celebrated in ancient Irish history, for the Druidic fires lighted there annually on 1st November, in Pagan times.
