- In the olden times, there were many different kinds of bread made, such as, oaten bread, made from oaten meal and mixed with water, boxty bread made from flour and mixed with the juice of grated potatoes.
Wheat is grown in this country and wheaten meal is now sued in making bread.
We also have plain flour bread. Both it and wheaten bread are wet and mixed with buttermilk or sour milk and baked in an oven over the open grate or hearth. When a range is used the bread is put in a tin and in the oven of the range.- Collector
