    disfigured; the other boy aged 14 had to stay in hospital for nine months, and traces of the terrible tragedy are to be seen on one of his ears, and on the back of head. Both are going around now, just as if nothing happened and are no way sensitive of their scars.
    The 'flu occurs in this district mostly in the Winter and Spring. Sometimes it takes a serious form and spreads rapidly among the people in country and town. A number of people died from it last year. There are also two other diseases known as whooping cough and measles which visit this district every year. Young people mostly that take those diseases, and they are not so fatal as 'flu, though great care must be taken of their victims , as these diseases always leave their traces, unless the necessary steps be taken to prevent this happening.
