are supposed to have certain cures. A holly-tree marks the spot where the well is. While the Redemptorist Fathers were giving a Mission in Killinkere a few years ago, there was a procession to this well. The Rosary was recited in the rocks, and hymns were sung.
Further up in Termon, a cross was erected to mark the spot where priests hid from soldiers and "priest-hunters", as a reward was given for their capture. Priests occasionally said Mass in the houses, but people kept guard for them outside, lest the spies would be on the watch. Caves were cut out in the rocks as safe places in which to celebrate Mass.
There is a "Mass Rock" also in the neighbouring parish of Laragh. Some few years ago there was a procession of the Blessed Sacrament from the Church, over a mile distant, to this rock, where Benediction was given. A well just under the rock is said to have been blessed. Anyhow, people go to that well for cures. Priests said Mass on this rock in the Penal Times and it is said that one priest, who was pursued by the soldiers drowned himself in the lake which is convenient. Since then the lake is called "loch Na gCleireach".
