    died out.
    There is another fairy fort in my district in the townland of Lakeland, but it (is) seems to be on its own as there is no fort in view of it. This fort is circular in shape, with a mound of earth around it, and a whitethorn tree growing in the middle of it. It is supposed that the fairies built it, and it is said they lived in it.
    Years ago the people that owned the land, built a ditch around the fort, and the next morning when they went out to the field, they found that the ditch was gone and it is supposed that the fairies did it. The man who owns the field never ploughed it, although the fairies long ago took the best field in the land on which to make their fort. People have often seen lights at this spot, but never heard the sound of churning or music come from it.
    Other fairy forts are in Carrickacromin, Tierfad, Knockataggart and Clifferna townlands. Those are supposed to have been places of protection during the Danish invasion. The fairies are said to live in them now. The owners of the lands on which those forts are, never interfere with them when ploughing or planting the crops In years gone past, people saw lights around
