- Long ago people used to say that any bits of comb found outside belonged to the banshee and if a piece was taken into the house she would come that night and cry round the house till she got it. One day a woman brought in a piece of comb that she found in the field, and that night the banshee came at 12 o'clock and cried for her (her) comb. The woman took the piece of comb between the tongs and pushed it out through the window to her. She took the comb and combed her hair and went away.
