  1. There are a lot of pretty birds in this country, some of which migrate to warmer countries for the Winter.
The birds that do not migrate are robin, wren, sparrow, blackbird, thrush, crane, jackdaw, wood-pecker, king-fisher, chaffinch, bull-finch, water-hen, wild duck, swan, yellow-hammer, curlew, rook, lark, snipe, sea-gull, pigeon, owl, starling, plover, magpie, wild-goose, heron, grouse, woodcock and pheasant.
The birds that migrate are swallow, cuckoo and corn-crake.
The robin is probably the most popular bird to be found in the whole world. He had always been a favourite owing to his confiding ways and his love of nesting near to human habitations, In the Winter times he will come near the house for crumbs and food and will make friends with any person who doesn't frighten him.
The robin commences to nest quite early in the Spring and will rear two or three broods. The nests are often built in a cosy hole
