- On St Stephen's Day the country boys dress in old clothes, and put on false faces, and go about the country from house to house begging money. Sometimes they have fiddles with them, and they play a tune at every house. With the money they gather they but fancy things, and eat them.
On Hallow Eve children eat plenty of nuts, and apples, and play games. on St. Patricks Day the people used to drown their shamrocks in a glass of whiskey. On Shrove Tuesday people used to get married. They make buttermilk pancakes on that night. On Ash Wednesday people go to the churches to get ashes on their foreheads. On Holy Thursday the people go to the churches to visit the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
