- There was a flood one time in the meadows beside our house.
That was about fifty years ago, and it rained heavily, for two or three days.
There were two men, and they had to go on some business, and they had to cross the flooded meadows. They took off their boots and went into the flood, but they never felt till they walked into a drain. There was nothing but their heads above the water, and they could not swim
They shouted as loudly as they could for help and they were nearly dead with the cold when they were taken out.
