  1. As I lay down my head to sleep,
    I give my sole to God to keep,
    There are four corners on my bed,
    There are four angles round this spread,
    One to watch and one to pray,
    And two to carry my soul away,
    St. Matt and Mark, St Luke and John.
    God bless this bed that I lay on.
    If any evil troubles me.
    The bells of heaven wakens me
    As I go to my bed I go to my grave.
    I pray to the Lord my soul
