- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)it denotes that frosty weather is coming.
A blue circle around the moon is a sign of bad weather, and a bright circle is a sign of good weather. When the sun is bright and sparkling in the evening it denotes rain. A rainbow when seen in the morning is a sign of bad weather as the old rhyme says:-
"a rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning,
A rainbow in the evening tide,
Leaves the shepherd satisfied."
When the sky is of a red colour in the South East in the morning it is a sign of rain. In the evening if the sun is of a red colour when setting it is a sign of good weather. When the North wind blows it denotes that frost and snow is coming. When the South wind blows it is a sign of rain. When the West wind blows it brings wicked showers with it. The east wind is cold dry wind.
When the smoke ascends from a chimney it is a sign of good weather. When it stops low it is a sign of rain.- Bailitheoir
