Before the wedding day the people used to have their horses well fed and trained. On coming home from church after the wedding the men folk have a great race on horse-back to the brides home. The idea in this was that whoever reached the house first was given a bottle of whiskey. On the following Sunday there used to be a bride's drink held and all the people who were invited to the wedding came and enjoyed a great day.On the night of the wedding Straw-boys visit the house, and cheer there until they either get drink or money. These boys are dressed in straw from head to foot. Very often when they visit the house and get nothing they generally damage the house or do some harm.
