This is still called the " Picking of the gander ", because as many geese as are available are killed to satisfy the sharp appetites of the noisy merry-makers.On the night of the marriage, a wedding is held in the bridegroom's house. Intoxicating liquor is widely distributed on this occasion, but the temperate guests drink wine, lemonade or tea. Irish dancing to the tune of the violin or concertina is carried on till the early hours of the morning, then the numerous guests depart for their respective homes, leaving the newly-wedded pair behind to take up the threads of their new life together.The last wedding took place here about ten years ago, and it(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
