- This is a local poem composed by Thomas Martin, Fostra, Knockvicar, Boyle. He is still alive, aged 43 years and still composes poems. The following poem or song is sung to the air of "The glen of the West". Seamus Cull was a republican leader in Keadue, Boyle during the 1921 Civil War. The Free State army asked him to surrender. He refused. They then suffocated him with poisonous gas in a tunnel into which had escaped.Around the mountains of far-famed Arigna
Where the Staters unheeded now run
Since they used poisonous gas for to slaughter
Some of Ireland's best fighting sons
Since the first was fired in Erin(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
