- This is the way a sugán is made. At first get hay or straw and a twister. Then make a loop of hay and put the wire of the twister in it and put one hand on the fay and the other on the twister. While one is pulling out the hay the person twisting should keep twisting slowly until the length of sugan required is made. If a strong sugan is needed two single sugans should be twisted. A sugan is made for tying reeks of hay and straw to keep them safe when a storm arises and also some farmers put them on trams of hay in the field instead of twine. A sugan is better tha twine because it does no rot so fast and it keeps hay firmer. Sugans are very often used for spansels for goats and mountain sheep.
