    finished the story he disappeared. The man continued his journey to the wake. When he entered the house where the person was dead, he sat near a few of his old neighbours. They began to tell fairy stories, and the man at last let out about meeting the image when he was coming to the wake, and all about the horse. One of the neighbours decided to go and dig for the gold next morning with him, for he might be digging all the day before he got it. Next morning the two of them started off to find the gold, and just as they had started digging a long thing like a serpent arose from the ground. The two men threw earth on the serpent but according as they were digging other serpents were coming up. One of them opened his mouth to take a bite of them but the man did not give him the chance, and made off through the fields. All the serpents gathered around the other man but in spite of all he got away from them, and just then a small serpent took a bite of his leg. The man tried his best to come home but he died about an hour or two after. The poison went through his whole system. All the people of the place got very frightened so they would not dare
