   Statues

   The way you play statues is - the girls line up and one is put in charge. The one who is over it, takes one girl by the hand and swings her round and them she falls. Then she does it to all of them, and when she has that done she gives them all some-one's name. Then she goes away and one of the girls goes and hides. When the leader comes back she asks to know where is the other one. The others say she is gone for something such as for a pair of shoes or anything else. And so on until they are all finished and then she follows them.

   I wrote a letter to my love

   The way you play "I wrote a letter to my love is -" all the girls line up in a ring and one goes around outside and has a handcherchief and goes around outside and then say :- "I wrote a letter to my love; I put it in my pocket; some one of you has picked up and put it in your pocket." One of the girls gets it and she follows the other and when she has her caught she goes around the ring and say the same thing and so on for a good while.
