- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)They came, and they saw, and they conquered,
As I trust hosts of others will do.Their friendship remains warm and steadfast,
Ted in Adelaide and William in Perth, -
But their thoughts often turn to old Erin,
The dear verdant isle of their birth.Though neither lays claim to be holy,
On Saints' days they both saw the light,
Will Monty on Patrick's, "begorra"
On St Valentine's, Edward the Knight. The latter's kind thoughts and best wishes,
Are winging their way to the west
May they fall in full measure on Monty,
Bringing peace, and contentment and rest. Thus I close this disjointed epistle,
Least the muse run away with the score,
Or old Father Time as the umpire,
Give me out once again "Leg before".
