- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)till "The Green" ran with milk to the cow's knees. She ran away then and brought her calves along with her towards the sea. A blacksmith followed her, and as she was going into the sea, he struck her with a rod of enchantment and turned her into stone. There was until recently and perhaps still is, a flat flagstone on 'The Green' with the track of the cow's knees on it.
- Owen Roe danced at a great ball held near Cavan on the eve of St Swithen's Day, which was the day before he died. He was given a pair of poisoned dancing shoes, and there was there a great lady dancer with whom Owen Roe danced. She kept him dancing till the poison worked into his system, with the result that he died the following day.
