    Boils:- Boil milk and bread. Put on as a poultice.
    Cut:- A judge who lived in Bellemont Cootehill one day cut his face and hand. He went to a well in the land of Mr W Hammond, Benwilt [?], Dairy Brae, Cootehill. He washed his hand and face in the water of the well. This cured the cuts in two days.
    Burn:- Strip the bark of green elderberry branches in the summer. Fry gently for a couple of hours in lard or unsalted sheeps fat. The ointment produced should be kept in a jar. It should be of a nice green colour. (From Miss A. Jackson, Knockcroghery, Co Roscommon. She got it from her mother many years ago.)
    Worms in calves or fits in dogs:- Boil garlic in milk and give warm to calves or dogs which have not been fed for 24 hours. (Miss A. Jackson, Knockcroghery, Roscommon
