Cut:- A judge who lived in Bellemont Cootehill one day cut his face and hand. He went to a well in the land of Mr W Hammond, Benwilt [?], Dairy Brae, Cootehill. He washed his hand and face in the water of the well. This cured the cuts in two days.
Burn:- Strip the bark of green elderberry branches in the summer. Fry gently for a couple of hours in lard or unsalted sheeps fat. The ointment produced should be kept in a jar.
