- The name of the local landlord was Mr Minnit. He lived on an estate in Bawn where Mr Tennyson lives now. I don't know how long his ancestors were in the district.
He was a very bad landlord and he allowed his agents to oppress the poor and often punish them for trivial acts.
There is a story told of a Mr Powel an agent of his who lived in Lisnagoin where Mr Foy lives now. One day he saw a girl looking accross the hedge into his garden and he shot her from his own door. He led a very bad life but in the end he died a Catholic. He took ill and he sent for one of his workmen, a Catholic whom he trusted. He asked him if he would do him a favour, but that he would have to leave the country as soon as he did it. He told him to go to his stable and saddle his best horse. Then to go to Cavan town and bring Father Lamb to him at once. The man said he would go at the risk of his life. He went to Cavan(continues on next page)- Collector
