- Long ago the people made candles for them- selfes selves. They made two kinds of candles, one from rushes and resin and the other from tallow fat and calico.
First of all they left a pile of rushes past to wither. When the rushes were withered they were quite easy to peel. The rushes severed as a wick. Then the people melted a lump of resin in a lid and pulled the peeled rushes through the tallow fat. They rolled the candle on some flat surface. They left it past for a few days and they had a grand candle.
The tallow and calico candle is made much the same way. the people cut the calico into narrow strips and pulled them through the melted tallow. The calico served as a wick, instead of rushes.- Bailitheoir
