- Some people made shirts of their own flax. They took it out of the stack and put it in a kill and dried it. Then they rolled it rollers, that was called the beetlen. It was scutched, spun and woven into cloth. They bleached it next.
Then they took it off the grass and made it into shirt.
There are (cen) certain sayings about taliors such as, a (lazy long thread a lazy tailor, a tailor's wife and a tinker's wife never agreed together.
