- Long ago the travelling folk or gipsy folk were more common than they are now. Then they had no vans or tents to sleep in that time.
All they had was asses carts. But some people would give them shelter in out houses for a few nights.
Most 'gipseys' that are begging nowdays. When they go to houses they have some things to sell such as pins, needles, ponngers and a lot of other things and most people buy something from them and they mostly give them alms also.- Bailitheoir
