- About twenty years ago the playing of “ Cat’ was a very prominent hame in the neighbourhood. It has long since fallen into disuse and will I think never be revived except the games which are now been played are disposed of.
The manner in which they played the game is as follows.
First a circle was made and having found a stick three inches in length left it about six feet from the circle . This three inch stick was called the ‘Cat’. Then two men one of whom guarded the circle with a stick and the other who was to try to put the ‘cat’ into the circle were found. If the latter man did his duty the man who guarded the circle’s hand was out. The man with the stick was at liberty to hit the ‘cat’ whatever distance he pleased.
